Position: Senior Network Engineer
Description:
The Senior Network Engineer supports a variety of network technologies, including Cisco routing/switching, Cisco VPN, F5 GTM/LTM load-balancing, Palo Alto firewalls, and Broadcom (BlueCoat) Proxies. This role provides enterprise solution designs and implementations, network technology refresh projects, operations and maintenance (O&M), cloud integration and migration projects, incident ticket troubleshooting, and supports DHS network modernization architecture and design efforts.
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to): - Researching and implementing enterprise-wide network solutions and enhancements in line with customer and DHS goals
- Producing SDLC project artifacts such as requirements, documentation, and diagrams
- Troubleshooting network incidents, documenting root causes, and maintaining ticket records
- Coordinating system maintenance, monitoring, and installation across WAN/LAN environments
- Developing and maintaining a network roadmap for capabilities, operations, and technologies
- Supporting network traffic analysis and bandwidth optimization
- Evaluating emerging network/communication technologies for capacity, performance, and reliability
- Ensuring compliance with customer network security policies
- Performing site installations and technology refreshes, developing architecture diagrams, and maintaining documentation
- Conducting knowledge transfer sessions and performing additional assigned duties
Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent (relevant experience may replace degree)
- 8+ years proven experience as a Network Engineer
- 6+ years of federal IT contracting experience on network and infrastructure programs
- 4-6+ years hands-on experience with Cisco routing, switching, firewalls (ISR, ASR, CSR, ASA, Nexus, TACACS/ISE)
- 4-6+ years in WAN environments with incident and operations management experience
- Strong knowledge of routing/switching, firewalls, load balancers, proxy servers
- Advanced knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF) and network protocols (TCP/IP, GRE, IPSEC, VRF)
- Strong IT security knowledge related to networks and applications
- Willingness and ability to work evening change requests and provide on-call support
- Ability to create design documentation, diagrams, and project artifacts
- Highly resourceful in a complex and dynamic network environment
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong Cisco technology knowledge

Certification: CCNA mandatory (CCNP, CCIE preferred)

Clearance: Public Trust clearance or higher (DHS or Customs & Border Protection preferred)
Preferred/Desired: - Certifications: CCNP, CCIE, Palo Alto, F5
- Hands-on: Palo Alto firewalls, F5 Load Balancers, BlueCoat/Symantec Proxies, SDN/SD-WAN, AWS, Azure, O365, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, Unix/Linux, Python, Perl, NetScout
- Experience with Zero Trust practices
